Description

  • Implement, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse infrastructure systems, including:

  • Multi-purpose hosting

  • Virtualized environments

  • Big data analytic systems

  • Cloud environments

  • Real-time systems

  • Business management information systems

  • Logging and monitoring systems

  • Hardware

  • Active Directory

  • Linux/Unix, Windows, or OSx-based systems

  • Storage Area Networks (SAN)

  • LAN and WAN networking

  • Other infrastructure-related components

  • Review and test infrastructure components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.

  • Resolve reported system issues.

  • Utilize infrastructure engineering and design methodologies appropriate to the development/test/production environment.

  • Provide input to the component system design, including:

  • Hardware/software trade-offs

  • System reuse

  • Use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS)

  • Requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual system components, with a particular emphasis on complex networking topics.

Relevant Experience

System Integration, Administration, and Network Engineering:** Perform tasks related to system integration, system administration, and network engineering, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of IT and telecommunication system

Technical Documentation:** Contribute to the development of sections of IT and telecommunication system manuals and standard operating procedures, documenting system configurations and processe

Project Execution:** Execute tasks in IT and telecommunication projects across a range of areas includin

  • Windows and Linux server system administration (e.g., 2K3, 2K8, 7, 10, various Linux flavors)

  • Integration of GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions

  • Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM)

  • Networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., CISCO, Juniper)

  • Storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS)

  • Remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN)

  • Other IT infrastructure technologies

Troubleshooting and Expertise:** Troubleshoot complex network issues related to IPSec, VXLan, Firewalls, Load Balancing, DNS, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and thin client architecture

Security Administration:** Implement and maintain enterprise antivirus, malware detection, intrusion detection, and audit solution

Open Source and Cloud Technologies:** Utilize Open Source tools, such as Snort, and experience with Cloud technologies, such as OpenStack, Hadoop, and Clouder

AWS Expertise:** Demonstrate knowledge of Amazon Web Services platforms and solution

Project Leadership:** Contribute as a senior contributor and as part of an integrated product team on complex project

Customer Communication:** Communicate effectively with customers, providing technical support and addressing their need

Infrastructure Project Supervision:** Supervise Infrastructure projects across diverse areas including system engineering, system integration, development and operations, project execution, quality oversight, resource allocation, financial tracking and reportin

Personnel Supervision:** Supervise Infrastructure Engineers and other contract personnel to ensure adherence to Government requirement

Government Consultation:** Provide advice to Government personnel on maintaining, optimizing, and upgrading IT and telecommunication infrastructure to meet evolving government requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related discipline and twelve (12) years experience in infrastructure engineering

  • An additional four (4) years of infrastructure experience on projects with similar engineering processes may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree

  • At least one technical certification in systems engineering (e.g., INCOSE), information security (e.g., CISSP), networking (e.g., CCNA), system administration (e.g., RHCE, MCSE), virtualization (e.g., VCP), information technology systems management (e.g., ITIL) or project management (e.g., PMP, Agile), or in other IT related domains.
